AGREEMENT OF COLLABORATION
BETWEEN TUC AND KENYA FORESTRY RESEARCH INSTITUTE

The agreement signed on 22nd May,2019 will establish a program of exchange and collaboration in areas of benefit and also to carry out joint research programs in order to deepen the analysis of science and technology of the respective institutions says Prof. Thomas Akuja

Turkana University College in conjunction with Houston Northwest Church, Kenya Pipeline Corporation-Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas, Kenya Forestry Research Institute Organised a Public lecture on Leadership Principals for women and women leadership in Oil and Gas.

Turkana University College conjunction with Houston Northwest Church, Kenya Forestry Research Institute, Lodwar County referral hospital, Pastors lodwar followership and Turkana Basin Institute held a free medical camp at Longech Dispensary, Turkana Central in Turkana County on 14th March,2019.

MOU SIGNING BETWEEN TURKANA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE AND KENYA MARITIME AUTHORITY
Turkana University College and Kenya Maritime Authority signed an MOU at the Kenya Maritime Authority Offices in Mombasa County.
The two institutions are committed to actualize the operationalization of the MOU by developing Seafarers’ curriculum in line with the merchant shipping regulations, enhancing professional skills of both institutions through training, students and staff interaction and collaborate in shipboard training among others.
Turkana University College will mount courses in maritime studies.
“TUC Library department goes virtual”
Turkana University College has installed an Intergrated Library System (ILS) also known as Library Management Solution(LMS)-KOHA.In the implementation of the system, TUC has automated it’s routine functionalities, Circulation activities which includes issuing and receiving of books, a functional Online Public Access Catalogue linking the remote resources to E-Resource using EZ proxy, cataloguing function, Course reserves, patron management and tools modules through the system.
Monitoring and inventory of library materials will be real-time as the system is able to give customized reports of usage and even overdue fines says the Librarian in-charge madam Irene Maiyo.Students will be served within the shortest time possible and also be able to search and tell the real location and availability of the materials on the self curbing time wasted searching for books strategically placed.
THE FIRST UNIVERSITY IN AFRICA TO OFFER MASTERS IN HUMAN EVOLUTION BIOLOGY
Turkana University College held a collaborative meeting with Turkana Basin Institute on 9th January 2018. During the meeting the Director TBI Pro. Isiah Nengo said that Turkana University College in collaboration with Turkana Basin Institute will be offering a new program MSC in Human Evolution Biology with specialiation in Human and Primates Evolution. This program will be taught by associate professors from TBI, who will be adjunct professors of TUC. This program will be equivalent to similar programs offered at Stony Brook University in the USA.
TBI will offer four scholarships to African students , three of which will be awarded to Turkana University College Students.
Turkana Basin Institute being an international repute will transfer proffessional skills in teaching and research, identify teachers to supervise and come up with funding modules to help in research and field school training in Human Evolution. Prof Nengo will spearhead in working on a partnership between Turkana University College and Oregon university, USA in developing programs in Solar Energy.
Turkana University College in partnership with Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas to offer the following programmes, which have been declared by KUCCPS Diploma in Oil, Diploma in Gas Economics, Diploma in Oil and Gas and Diploma in Welding.
Turkana University College senior members of staff visited MIOG on 31st January 2018 represented by Prof. Tom Nyamache (Ag.Ag Deputy Principal (ASA)), Dr. Peter Edome (Ag. Dean School of Science) and Mr Darius Bosire (Ag. Dean School of Business and Economics) . The MIOG team was represented by Prof. Jane Ngila Deputy Director.MIOG.

Signing of MOU, MOE and MOF between Turkana University College and Turkana Basin Institute and Hosting visitors from Case Western Reserve University USA.
On 17th March 2018, Turkana University College and Turkana Basin Institute witnessed the signing of MOU, MOE and MOF between the two Institutions. Msc. Evolution Human Biology a programme on the basis, on which the three documents were signed, will be serviced by adjunct professors from USA, specialized in evolution human biology hence making it a global programme. The programme will be housed in school of science.
In addition, Turkana University College was privileged to host two visitors from Case Western Reserve University, USA. Prof. Glenn D. Starkman,(Institution of the Science of Origins) Professor of Physics & Astronomy, he is also the Director, Center for Education & Research in Cosmology & Astrophysics and Dr. P. Prince house, Director, Evolutionary Biology Program.
The brain child behind these initiative Prof.Nengo Director TBI, emphasized on establishing a strong academics alliances and TBI could act as a catalyst in linking TUC with other Universities and Institutions around the World.
The visiting professor, Prof.Starkman said that he would be interested in collaborating with TUC and TBI in areas like Renewable Energy, Water Technology and Tropical diseases.
