Dr. Ouko holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD)  in Mathematics Education from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. She is an alumnus of Moi University where she obtained a Master of Philosophy in Educational Communication and Technology specializing in Mathematics Education. For her Bachelors degree taken in Moi University she studied Mathematics and Geography leading to a Bachelor of Education Arts degree. Her  experience  while teaching mathematics in secondary schools for over 15 years inspired her first thesis titled ‘The Role of Peer Instruction in Learners Acquisition of Problem Solving Skills in Mathematics in Selected Secondary Schools in Bungoma District’ this was written in  October 2007. While working as a teacher educator in Kibabii diploma Teacher Training college , she took this further, and ,in 2016,  studied peer mediated strategies in mathematics instruction leading to a thesis titled ‘Peer Instruction and Secondary School Students’ Performance in Vectors in Bungoma County’. She is currently employed at Turkana University College in the department of teacher education where she is involved in the preparation of student teachers who hope to teach mathematics in secondary school. 


Her current research interests are ‘practical activities in mathematics instruction’. In the course of her career she has prepared candidates who have excelled in national examinations at both secondary and diploma levels for which she has been awarded certificates of recognition. Over time she has participated in seminars, workshops, symposia and other inter school / college activities which have enriched her experience as an educator. 


As a master trainer, she participated in the national training of teachers in early grade methodologies and drew valuable experience in training of trainers. She has wide experience in handling learners both in and out of class as she joins them in co-curricular activities with a bias in handball and Drama. A strict disciplinarian, she is capable of ensuring learners adherence to rules and regulations while at the same time maintaining cordial relationships that enable her offer career guidance and counseling. She believes in God, enjoys working with the community and is passionate about planting of trees.
