Turkana University College launched the inaugural cultural festival under the flagship of Prof. George Ndiema Chemining’wa the Principal was accompanied by the two Deputy Principals, Senior members of management, staff and students. The Principal flagged off the three day event in a colourful ceremony followed by a walk along the streets of Lodwar town. The Salvation Army Band led the procession through Equity Bank and KCB Group Bank within the town. Members of the public joined in the walk and danced round the town bringing business to a near standstill. The students sung patriotic songs and marched peacefully   and boarded their buses back to campus in very high spirits. Other activities featuring in the three day Cultural Festival include donating blood to enrich the Lodwar Teaching and Referral Hospital and showcasing the cultural artefacts of the Turkana people such as  atoros, aorich, aporot, egec, ngatubwae and the Turkana’s ngichoroi ( stool).
