TUCSO Delegates Officially Sworn In
In a ceremony defined by a solemn sense of duty and collective optimism, Turkana University College officially ushered in a new era of student leadership on February 23rd, 2026. Following the successful conclusion of the student elections held on February 20, 2026, the newly minted 2026-2027 Student Delegates were formally sworn into office, marking the start of a mandate built on the pillars of purpose and promise.

The inauguration was attended by high-ranking university officials and legal representatives to ensure a seamless transition of power. Deputy Principal of Research, Innovation, and Linkages (RIL), Prof. Peter Edome, represented the Principal, Prof. George Chemining’wa, at the event. Under the guidance of Dr. Julius Chepkwony, Chairperson of the TUCSO 2026-2027 Electoral Commission, the Magistrate administered the oath of office, legally binding the new leaders to their roles as representatives of the student body.

The highlights of the afternoon were the poignant remarks delivered by Prof. Edome, who offered a powerful charge to the incoming delegates. He reminded the council that true leadership transcends the prestige of the office, stating, "Leadership is not a position, it’s a responsibility. Serve with integrity and go and lead with humility and a clear vision". This sentiment was echoed by the wider university leadership, who challenged the new council to navigate their term with a steadfast commitment to integrity, unity, peace, love, and professional dedication.
As the ceremony concluded, the university community extended its well wishes to the entire delegate body, expressing high hopes for a term characterized by significant impact and positive transformation.
