Turkana University College held an Induction for the 2023/2024 PSC Cohort V Interns Turkana University College is honoured to host interns under the PSC arrangement. To ensure smooth settlement of interns in the institution, enhance efficiency and effectiveness in their operations the University College ensures formal induction is organized and conducted. Various Departmental Heads participate in this important exercise.


The Public Service Commission (PSC) Interns Cohort V in the year 2023/2024 were inducted on 20th June 2023 in the University College Boardroom. The purpose of the induction was to orient the Interns on the University’s governance structure, policies and code of conduct among other issues as expected of all employees engaged in government institutions.


The induction was officially opened by the principal, Prof. George Chemining’wa. In his remarks, the principal welcomed the PSC COHORT (V) Interns to the University College and encouraged them to familiarize themselves with the good working culture in the institution. He also urged them to interact with staff from across all departments and to exercise proper time management. Further, he called upon them to appreciate the organizational structure of the University College.

The Deputy Principal Administration, Finance & Planning, Prof. George Muthaa took the interns through the history, vision, mission and core values of the institution. He encouraged the team to acknowledge the University’s stakeholders while maintaining integrity, teamwork, confidentiality amongst other values. The Deputy Principal Academics and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Fredrick Kassilly advised the interns to adopt a hardworking culture, observe proper time management and to embrace flexibility in the different roles assigned to them by the immediate supervisors.

Other members of staff who spoke during the orientation included Dr. Susan Ouko, Dr. Evans Otieno and Mr. Paul Odongo. The speakers took the Interns through the university structure, code of conduct, performance measures, social intelligence, emotional intelligence and confidentiality. The Interns were advised to work closely with their supervisors in case they encounter any challenges during their tenure at TUC.

In response to the induction exercise, the interns appreciated the activity. They thanked management for the opportunity to serve in the institution. They alluded to the great potential in the institution and indicated that they will learn and support the vision and mission of Turkana University College.
