Turkana University College held a vibrant Cultural Festival on 14th and 15th March 2025 at the university grounds under the theme: "Enhancing Intercultural Co-existence Among the University Community." The festival brought together students, staff, and stakeholders to celebrate cultural diversity, foster unity, and promote the appreciation of different traditions.

The event was officially opened on 14th March by the CECM for the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Natural Resources, Turkana County, Hon. Leah Audan Lokaala, who commended the institution for organizing such an important event. She emphasized the need for continued support for the university and urged all students to be ambassadors of marketing the institution. She also assured the university community that both the County Government of Turkana and the National Government are committed to supporting the university’s growth and development.

In his remarks, the Principal of Turkana University College, Prof. George Chemining'wa, welcomed all participants and encouraged them to embrace and learn from the diverse cultures represented. He emphasized the importance of such events in fostering unity and inclusivity within the university community. He also expressed his gratitude to the organizing committee, led by Dr. Benjamin Korross, for successfully coordinating the event.

The festival concluded on 15th March, with winning teams being recognized and awarded. Mr. Turkana University College (Reuben Komba) and Miss Turkana University College (Loyce Wacera) were crowned during the event. The final day of the festival was graced by the Director of Sports, Turkana County, Jackson Nakusa, who encouraged students to uphold the spirit of unity as they celebrated different cultures. He also reiterated the county government's commitment to supporting the university in its endeavors.
Prof. Chemining’wa officially closed the festival, expressing gratitude to all participants for making the event a success. He reaffirmed the university's commitment to supporting cultural activities as part of a holistic student experience. Others in attendance included Prof. Peter Edome, Deputy Principal Administration & Students Affairs, Rev. Jackson Iruko, Dean of Students, members of staff, and key stakeholders such as the Kenya Red Cross, among others.
The TUC Cultural Festival 2025 successfully embodied its theme by bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to promote dialogue, understanding, and peaceful co-existence. The university remains dedicated to fostering intercultural exchange and inclusivity, ensuring that students not only excel academically but also gain a rich cultural experience.
