Turkana University College Inspires at the Inaugural KUCCPS 1ST National Career Conference and Exhibition

At Turkana University College (TUC), we believe that every student’s journey begins with a single, informed choice. This conviction led our team to the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) from January 26th to 29th, 2026, for the historic KUCCPS 1st National Career Conference and Exhibition. Under the inspiring theme, “Informed Career Choices; A Skilled and Competitive Workforce,” we joined fellow universities, training institutions, and industry leaders in a collective mission to bridge the gap between academic potential and the demands of the modern workforce.

The faces behind the mission: Our dedicated team at the inaugural KUCCPS 1st National Career Conference, committed to shaping futures.

Throughout this groundbreaking four-day event, Turkana University College exhibition booth transformed into a vibrant hub of engagement and inspiration. It was more than just a place to pick up a brochure; it was a space where prospective students, parents, and teachers could sit down for a real conversation. Our team led by Registrar of Academic Affairs, Mr. Paul Odongo, and Dean of Students, Rev. Jackson Iruko moved beyond the technicalities of admission to focus on the "why" behind the "what." We spent our time in personalized discussions, helping young learners align their natural passions and strengths with the right academic pathways. This consultative, people-centered approach reflects our core commitment: ensuring that every learner receives the accurate and timely information they need to step confidently into their future.

The energy at our booth and TUC’s proactive approach to mentorship caught the eye of the country’s leading education voices. We were honored to host Prof. John Oluoch, the Director for Placement, Coordination, and Career Development at KUCCPS, who commended TUC for our leadership in guiding the next generation.

“Institutions like Turkana University College are key partners in ensuring that students receive timely career guidance and make informed choices that align with their strengths and the country’s skills demands,” Prof. Oluoch remarked.

The team also enjoyed a meaningful exchange with Prof. Franklin Wabwoba, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) at Karatina University. Reflecting on the significance of this first-ever national career fair, Prof. Wabwoba highlighted the power of unity among Kenyan institutions.

“Career conferences such as this provide a crucial platform for institutions to share best practices, strengthen partnerships, and collectively enhance the quality and relevance of university education in Kenya,” noted Prof. Wabwoba during his interaction with our team.

Beyond these high-level interactions, the conference served as a vital listening post. Our delegation, which also included Public Relations Officer Ms. Clementine Akai and Mr. Phelix Mulunda from the Admissions Office, engaged in deep dialogues regarding emerging trends in competency-based training and graduate employability. These insights are already being woven into our ongoing efforts to improve student support systems and strengthen our mentorship programs back on campus.

The team's participation in this inaugural national forum did more than just elevate the visibility of Turkana University College; it reaffirmed our promise to empower learners through quality education and genuine care. The relationships built and the knowledge shared during those four days at KICC will continue to shape our outreach and partnership strategies as we move forward. At TUC, we aren't just enrolling students; we are nurturing the skilled, competitive, and inspired workforce that will lead our nation into the future.
