Turkana University College Signs HEST-II Project Implementation Agreement

Turkana University College marked a significant milestone on 10th February 2026 with the signing of the Implementation Agreement for the Higher Education Science and Technology Phase II (HEST-II) Project. The signing ceremony was held at the 10th Floor Boardroom, Jogoo House “B”, and was presided over by the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba, EGH, and the Principal Secretary for Higher Education, Hon. Dr. Beatrice Muganda Inyangala, CBS. Representing Turkana University College at the ceremony were the Chairperson of Council, Dr. Salim Ndemo, PhD, MIoD (K), SS, MBS, and the Principal, Prof. George Chemining’wa, PhD, who appended their signatures on behalf of the institution.


The signing of the HEST-II Project Implementation Agreement marked the conclusion of the preparatory phase of the project, which is scheduled for official launch in the course of 2026. Under the HEST-II framework, Turkana University College will receive a total grant of KES 178,015,616.00 to strengthen its capacity in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The funding will support the enhancement of science laboratory infrastructure and the acquisition of modern laboratory equipment across various science disciplines, significantly advancing the University’s commitment to quality teaching, research, and innovation in STEM fields.
