TRAINING ON ADMINISTRATION AND CITIZENSHIP DUTIES
Turkana University College conducted a comprehensive training session on Administration and Citizenship Duties on Wednesday, 25th June 2025. The training, held at the University Main Hall and beginning at 11:00 a.m., was organized by the Administration division. All members of staff were invited to attend this important exercise aimed at enhancing their understanding of civic responsibilities and administrative ethics.

The session was officially opened by the Deputy Principal, Administration, Finance and Planning, Prof. George Muthaa, who emphasized the fundamental duties of citizenship expected of every responsible member of staff at Turkana University College. Members of Staff were taken through key areas such as loyalty to the Republic, which involves honoring national symbols like the flag and supporting the nation's interests. Participants were reminded of the critical importance of obeying the law, which ensures societal order and stability.

Emphasis was also placed on active participation in civic affairs, including voting, jury service, and involvement in community activities. This, the training noted, plays a vital role in strengthening democratic processes and promoting good governance. Another central theme was the duty of paying taxes, which funds essential public services and national infrastructure development.
Furthermore, the training highlighted the obligation to defend the state. Promoting the common good was also discussed, encouraging staff to contribute to societal well-being through volunteering, social justice advocacy, and other community-centered efforts.
Lastly, the importance of respecting the rights and freedoms of others was underscored. Members of staff were urged to uphold mutual respect, tolerance, and inclusivity in all their interactions. The training concluded with a call for staff to integrate these values into their day-to-day professional responsibilities, reinforcing Turkana University College’s commitment to ethical leadership and national development.
