Turkana University College hosts Kenya Society for the Blind to Advance Digital Inclusion for Persons with Visual Impairments

The KSB team was represented by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Samson Waweru, who led the delegation in a strategic discussion regarding the advancement of digital inclusion for persons with disabilities in Turkana County. Mr. Samson Waweru, CEO of Kenya Society for the Blind (KSB).

The visit centered on a strategic briefing regarding the Digital Skills Literacy Training Programme, a transformative initiative specifically designed to empower persons with visual impairments. The core objective of this training is to equip participants with the practical digital skills necessary to navigate modern technology and accessible software. By mastering these tools, individuals can enhance their personal independence, unlock sustainable income through digital platforms, and access essential online services that were previously out of reach. During the visit, the team engaged in constructive discussions regarding the advancement of digital inclusion across Turkana County. Both institutions expressed a strong desire to ensure that Turkana University College remains at the forefront of supporting persons with disabilities through specialized training and inclusive academic environments. By strengthening digital literacy, the program provides participants with the confidence to participate more fully in both the economic and social fabric of the county.
