Paleo-Guide Training Graduation
Theme: “When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are, anything your heart desires, will come to you”
The Department of Biological and Physical Sciences of the School of Science and Technology of Turkana University College organized the 1st Graduation Ceremony for the 1st batch of Certificate in Paleo-Guide students on 25th November 2022. The ceremony was graced by the Principal Prof. George Chemining’wa, Turkana Basin Institute (TBI) Programmes Coordinator, Dr. Job Kibii, the Deputy Principal Academics and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Fredrick Kassilly and the Dean School of Science and Technology, Dr. Peter Edome.
The Dean School of Science and Technology urged that the partnership between Turkana University College (TUC) and TBI should continue as its fruits in entrenching education, sharing knowledge and appreciating research within the Turkana Community was evident. Representatives of the graduating students suggested that the programme be developed into a two-year certificate and 3-year diploma course, and further into a degree program.
Speaking during the occasion, the Deputy Principal responsible for Academics and Student Affairs reminded students of the four weeks’ they had spent in the University College while undertaking the course. He urged them to remember and put into practice what they had been taught for their professional growth. He urged them to think creatively and innovatively as they pursue their careers.
Dr. Job Kibii speaking on the occasion said “Dream Big and Achieve what you desire for.” He also confirmed that TBI and TUC working collaboration will continue. He further confirmed and assured of immense efforts within his reach to make sure that the programmes and areas of partnership and strengthened.
The Principal, Prof. George Chemining’wa welcomed everyone and gave a bird’s eye view of the achievements of the students and the laurels that they had brought to the Institution. He emphasized on the importance of schooling and the values to carry forward in their life. He also stressed students to equip themselves with adequate skills and knowledge to face the challenges and to excel in their career. He confirmed to the TBI coordinator that he will ensure that the partnership and collaboration between TUC and TBI will soar under him.
All the graduands were awarded certificates.
