The School of Education and Social Sciences (SoESS) comprises two departments — the Department of Teacher Education and the Department of Social Sciences. The Dean would like to see the school work towards the university’s mission by endeavoring to provide learners an opportunity to create, preserve and disseminate knowledge and skills for service to humanity. In each department you will find service characterized by integrity and accountability.
The school is staffed with diverse personnel in terms of experience and expertise in both full-time and part-time capacities. The Department of Teacher Education offers BEd (Arts), BEd (Science) and BEd (Early Childhood). The Department of Social Sciences offers courses in Development Studies, Administration and Social Work.

Minimum requirements: Relevant master’s degree from a recognized university.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree with 2nd Class Honors, Upper Division, in a relevant field at Bachelors degree or any other University recognized by the MMUST senate in Curriculum and Instruction or in related disciplines in education.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree with 2nd Class Honors, Upper Division, in the relevant field or Bachelor’s degree with 2nd Class Honors, Lower Division, in the relevant field from a recognized University with two (2) years’ relevant work experience.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree with 2nd Class Honors, Upper Division, in the relevant field or Bachelor’s degree with 2nd Class Honors, Lower Division, in the relevant field with two (2) years’ relevant experience; from a recognized Institution.
Minimum requirements: Mean grade of C+ (plus) in KCSE with at least a C+ (plus) in English or 2 principal passes at A-level and 1 subsidiary pass in relevant subjects or Diploma in a relevant area of study.

Minimum requirements: Mean grade of C+ (plus) in KCSE or Diploma in ECDE or Diploma in Education or KCE with at least Division (III) plus P1 Certificate or KACE with 1 principal passes at A-level and 2 subsidiary pass plus ECE Diploma.
Minimum requirements: Minimum mean grade of C+ (plus) in KCSE and at least a C+ (plus) in English or 2 principal passes at A-level or Diploma in a relevant area of study.
Minimum requirements: Mean Grade of C+ (Plus) in KCSE with at least C+ in Physics and ONE teaching subject or Mean grade of C (Plain) or its Equivalent with Diploma in relevant Technical Education from a recognized Institution.
Minimum requirements: Minimum mean grade of C+ (Plus) in KCSE and C (Plain) in Biology, Mathematics, Geography, Chemistry/Physics, English/Agriculture/Economics or 2 principal passes at A level, one subject of which must be in Biology, or Diploma in relevant area of study.
